Cave Dive Florida

Cavern Tours
are offered to certified recreational divers.
These guided
tours are done under the following conditions:
- Within
view of natural sunlight at all times during the dive.
- Maximum linear distance
to the surface is 200 feet.
- Maximum depth is 100 feet.
- No restrictions can be
swam through.
- No decompression dives.
- Minimum visibility must
be 30 feet.
- Maximum of 4 divers per
certified instructor.
- Minimum psi to begin the
dive is 2000 psi.
- This program consists of
a pre-dive briefing regarding the cavern zone & the rules we apply to
cavern diving.
- No extensive equipment
modifications need to be made since this is a "controlled" dive.
Minor changes to weighting, configuration of alternate air source & snorkle
removal may be done.
- Discussion & understanding
of the use of a guideline is essential to the participating divers and will
be a part of the pre-dive briefing as well as part of the actual dive.
- The guide will briefly
review:
- Buoyancy control.
- Finning techniques.
- Lights use & signalling.
- Line referencing.
Equipment
Requirements
- Same as for cavern
course except no reel is required.
- Mask, low volume preferred
- Power fins with straps
taped, spring straps preferred.
- 72 cubic foot cylinder,
minimum. Cylinder with dual valve orifice preferred.
- Single hose regulator
with octopus as alternate air source & an SPG.
- Wet or dry suit.
- BCD with power inflator.
- Submersible dive tables
or computer.
- Knife or line cutter.
- Slate & pencil.
- Watch and depth gauge
if no computer is being used.
- Weight system (If needed)
approved by the instructor.
- 2 dive lights minimum.
